About Me
Starting out as a teacher, before moving into the world of international development, over the course of 20 years I have had the privilege of working with colleagues and clients on major consulting and outsourcing assignments in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Pretty quickly I learned that ‘you have to win the work to do the work’ and that in competitive markets being good was not enough: only the best can succeed. And so began my journey as a new business specialist.
One of the most exciting things about business development is that it combines two big challenges that I thrive on: understanding people – the clients and decision makers we need to persuade – and interrogating ideas – the concepts and issues which shape and drive our solutions. I specialise in working with teams to help them tease out and articulate their value propositions in ways that are compelling for their clients.
Working in areas ranging from strategic communications to security and justice reform, education, climate finance, economic empowerment and public sector reform, I have led businesses to win major contracts with public sector clients worth over $500m. Today, I help businesses get better at bidding. Whether it’s working on a bid to develop and articulate a compelling response, helping develop the skills teams need to be the best, or working with leaders to develop a successful enabling environment, there’s little I find more satisfying than rolling up my sleaves and getting stuck in.
